How we vet a dental clinic in Vietnam: all 18 checks.

Why this page exists

Here is how we vet a dental clinic in Vietnam. We are Dental Link, and we only match patients with clinics that pass these checks. Other websites call a clinic "verified" but do not say what that means. This page shows what "verified" means at Dental Link. It lists what we ask each clinic for, and what we look at ourselves. It also lists what we keep checking after a clinic is listed. If a clinic will not show us something on this page, we stop talking to it.

Eighteen checks, in six groups, for every clinic Dental Link works with.

Every dental clinic Dental Link sends patients to is registered and licensed with Vietnam's Ministry of Health. In each clinic's city, the Department of Health inspects it. We also vet every clinic ourselves. If a clinic fails one of our checks, it does not appear anywhere on this site.

ALicence and legal standing
✓
Operating licence from the Ministry of Health and the city's Department of HealthCurrent licences are the only ones we accept. The licence must match the clinic's trading name and the address we visit. We keep a copy on file and re-check it every year.
Document
✓
Practising registration for every dentist who would treat our patientsThis covers every dentist, not just the lead dentist. If a second dentist places the implant, their registration is on file too.
Document
✓
Business registration and ownershipWe know who owns the clinic and who is accountable if something goes wrong.
Document
✓
Complaint and sanction historyWe look for any regulatory complaint, sanction (a penalty) or licence interruption on record. We also check how each one was resolved.

BThe visit, in person
✓
Dental Link visits the clinic face to faceAn advisor who lives in the city walks through the clinic during working hours. They see patients being treated. It is not a scheduled showroom tour, and not a video call.
On site
✓
Sterilisation and infection controlAutoclave and sterilisation records are checked. An autoclave is the machine that sterilises instruments. We look for single use items where single use is expected. We also check that we can track each instrument from the tray to the patient.
On site and records
✓
Imaging and equipmentWe check for 3D imaging (CBCT) and digital scanning at the clinic. CBCT is a 3D X-ray of the teeth and jaw. Both must be maintained and in use, not just in a brochure.
On site
✓
The laboratory, seenThe clinic names the dental lab that makes its crowns, bridges and arches. An arch is a full row of teeth, upper or lower. We ask to see the lab or its certification, not just hear about it.

✓
Emergency readinessWe check what happens if a patient has a sudden medical problem in the dental chair. We look at the equipment, the emergency protocol, and the clinic's relationship with the nearest hospital.

CThe dentist, not just the clinic
✓
Case history for the procedure you are asking aboutA good clinic with the wrong dentist for your case is still the wrong match. We ask for case volume and examples for All-on-4, single implants, veneers and full mouth work separately.

DMaterials, pricing and warranty
✓
Named implant and material brands, with proof of supplyThe brand named in your quote is the brand that goes in your mouth. We ask for proof of where the clinic gets its supplies, not just the logo on the wall.
Document
✓
A written price list, and a written plan before treatmentEvery patient gets an itemised plan and price before anything starts. The clinic never agrees a price with you while you are in the dental chair.
Document
✓
Warranty terms in writingThe written warranty says how many years it lasts and what is covered. It also lists what is excluded and how to make a claim. These terms are explained to you and included in your quote before you agree.
Document
✓
Same price as booking direct, confirmedThe clinic pays our commission, and it is never added to the patient's quote. We check quotes against the clinic's own list price.
Records
ERecords and outcomes
✓
Treatment records and outcome dataThe clinic shares its treatment records and outcomes with us. So we see how often work has complications or has to be redone. We do not just take a brochure's word for it.
Records
✓
Every patient we place is followed upWe ask each patient we send to a clinic how their treatment went, in detail. Their feedback counts toward how we rate the clinic. If anything in their feedback does not make sense, we do a full re-check of the clinic.
Ongoing
FAdversarial review
✓
Adversarial reviewAdversarial review means we test what the clinic tells us. We check it against what patients tell us and what the records show. We also check it against what we saw on our visit. A clinic does not pass once and stay verified forever.
Ongoing
✓
Annual re-checkLicences, registrations and sterilisation records are re-checked every year. Any clinic with a change of ownership or lead dentist gets a full re-check.
Yearly

What takes a clinic off Dental Link's list of partner clinics.

✕
Selling treatment the patient did not come for.
✕
Any lapse in the sterilisation and infection control standards we check when we visit.
✕
A brand or material in the mouth that does not match the one in the quote.

If a clinic handles a problem badly, we take it off our list.
